Defusion

It had been a day. Bridget sat on her porch swing, cigarette in one hand, coffee in the other and set off to the Grove to find Nova.

"Another day saving the world from fraud?" He teased.

She could barely speak… annoyance, frustration and anger were hiding behind the tears welling up in her eyes.

"Mmmm… yes.… I see...." he said, nodding in assumed understanding. "Is this a time for the Jelly Prophet?" She saw the dust start to swirl on the ground…

"No," she said bluntly.

"Okay, then. Jelly Prophet will stay put… Maybe check back in on us later," he instructed with a wink.

Nova's eyes softened and he sat down next to her. "It doesn't always have to be fun, you know. You're allowed to be mad. Especially with me."

Tears started down her face.

"Wait right here, don't move."

Bridget looked for a second, her tears stopped, her heart softened with validation. Nova smiled back, proud that it worked.

Her tears stopped, she gathered a breath, took a drag of her cigarette and gathered her laundry.
